A reed protector is useful for protecting your chanter reed when the chanter is out of the stock.
A simple polypenco reed protector protects the reed and allows it to dry after a playing session without the need to remove it from the chanter.
A more sophisticated reed protector, such as the Piper's Pal, not only protects the reed, but also provides a moisture-controlled environment to keep your reed at the required humidity. This keeps your reed ready to play and significantly shortens the time needed to "settle" it at the beginning of a playing session.
